Great News for EV Owners: Eight Level 3 Fast Chargers Coming to Monsey Near Town Square Mall

EV owners in Monsey will soon have a much faster place to power up, after the Ramapo Planning Board voted unanimously Monday night to approve the installation of eight new Level 3 EV chargers at the Park and Ride parking lot next to the Town Square Mall/Evergreen on the Route 59.
The application sailed through the board in a 7-0 vote, clearing the way for the new fast-charging stations to move forward. The project has also reportedly received the backing from Orange & Rockland Utilities, and work is expected to begin shortly, with the chargers anticipated to be installed within the next several months.
Unlike the slower chargers, Level 3 chargers are designed for rapid charging. Depending on the vehicle, a Level 3 electrical charger can typically charge a car from around 10% to 80% in roughly 20 to 30 minutes, turning what can otherwise be a lengthy charging stop into something that can be done during a quick shopping trip.
Town of Ramapo Planning Board Chairman Yisroel Eisenbach said in a statement to Rockland Daily, “This is a great addition to the community and to the neighborhood, which is still pretty limited when it comes to electric vehicle chargers. The location is also extremely convenient. A person can go shopping at Evergreen while using a Level 3 charger, and within roughly 30 minutes return to the parking lot with the vehicle substantially charged and ready to go.”
The park-and-ride already has several EV charging stations, but the arrival of eight new Level 3 chargers will significantly expand the faster charging options available to local drivers.
