Roshei mosdos of Lakewood’s girls schools have announced an agreement postponing the start of registration until Rosh Chodesh Shevat, saying the change is intended to ease the prolonged uncertainty and stress families face while seeking placements for their daughters.

The agreement – led by BMG roshei yeshiva Harav Yisroel Neuman, Harav Malkiel Kotler, Harav Yeruchem Olshin, and Harav Dovid Schustal – follows lengthy and detailed discussions with local rabbanim, askanim, school administrators, and parents.

For years, registration had opened immediately after Sukkos. That early start has left some families waiting anxiously for months before learning whether their daughters have been accepted.

Under the new policy, registration will only begin on Rosh Chodesh Shevat, and any agreement or acceptance of a girl into a school made before that date will have no validity.

An exception will allow new schools scheduled to open in the next school year (2027-28) to begin registration on the 15th of Teves because new mosdos need additional time to organize their classes, as they lack the infrastructure already in place at established schools.

The roshei mosdos say the change will benefit parents, schools, and, above all, the girls themselves.
