A man was arrested in Crown Heights after allegedly threatening to kill Jewish children, making antisemitic remarks and ordering his dogs to attack three Jewish victims during a frightening encounter early Friday morning.

Crown Heights Shmira was alerted at approximately 1 a.m. after the three victims encountered a man walking two dogs near Albany Avenue and Lefferts Avenue. The man allegedly positioned himself in their way, preventing them from continuing down the street.

During the confrontation, the suspect began directing antisemitic abuse at the victims and threatened their children, while also warning that he would use his dogs against them.

“You dirty Jews, your kids are always blocking the street, next time I see them I will kill them,” the man allegedly told the victims.

The three managed to get away from the initial confrontation, but the suspect allegedly followed them and instructed his dogs to jump on them. One of the dogs then leaped onto the chest of one of the victims.

Despite their continued efforts to leave the area, the victims were allegedly pursued for another block. The man repeatedly used the dogs to obstruct their path while continuing to threaten them, according to Shmira.

The ordeal finally came to an end near Lefferts Avenue and Kingston Avenue when Crown Heights Shmira members arrived at the scene. Shmira volunteers secured the area and contacted the NYPD.

Police subsequently took the suspect into custody. He was charged with aggravated harassment and menacing, with both offenses classified as hate crimes.

In an unrelated incident, Crown Heights Shmira and the NYPD are searching for a suspect accused of breaking into a Crown Heights residence on Sunday afternoon.
