A dramatic shakeup is underway in the United Torah Judaism party, as party rabbis Rav Landau and Rav Hirsch signed a letter in recent hours thanking MK Moshe Gafni for his service and asking him to end his term in the Knesset. Multiple sources confirmed the development to Belaaz.

Gafni, one of the longest-serving members of Knesset, was first appointed to his role in the days of Rav Shach and has served for over 30 years. MK Uri Maklev is also expected to retire alongside him.

Yaakov Asher, who previously served as mayor of Bnei Brak, is expected to be appointed party chairman in Gafni’s place. Younger representation is set to take their place in the Knesset.
