Lexi Alexander, a Palestinian-American filmmaker, celebrated the murder of bank executive Erin Piacenti, who was killed Monday in a random stabbing attack in New York City.

The movie director posted a meme about Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, with an image of Batman gazing at a Bat signal replaced with Mangione’s face, which was shared in response to a post that identified Piacenti as a vice president of Bank of America.

Alexander was born in Germany to a German mother and Palestinian father. By age 19, she had become a World Karate Association champion in point-fighting and a world kickboxing champion. She moved to Hollywood, beginning her career in acting as a stunt performer. She also worked as a close-quarters combat instructor for the United States Marine Corps. She started screen writing in the early 2000s, and her debut, Johnny Flynton (2002), earned an Academy Award nomination.

After stepping away from the film industry, Alexander moved from Hollywood to Ireland. Her post drew an immense amount of backlash from people furious at her callous attitude toward the brutal and random murder of an innocent woman.

Piacenti had just returned to work after a five-month maternity leave and had recently celebrated her second anniversary when she was fatally stabbed in the stomach by a mentally ill woman, who stabbed another person before being shot dead by police. The second victim is in stable condition.

“They released the hasbara bot farm just like the first time when we asked people to boycott Bofa [Bank of America]. Israel doesn’t care about the woman who got killed, they care about the positive rating Bofa gave them in the middle of a genocide. There is huge money at stake,” Alexander posted in response to another post about Bank of America.

“The irony (and stupidity) of this, is that she wants people to look through the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to see human atrocities, meanwhile pissing on a tragedy because of where the victim was employed to best support her new baby,” one social media user wrote.

“A young woman was murdered while innocently walking down the street, and you are celebrating,” wrote another poster. “You are absolute human garbage, and I suspect you know that deep-down.”

“Your anger is targeted at the wrong person,” another posted.
