WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sep. 3, 2026) — Senior leadership representing major segments of traditional Orthodox and Chassidic Jewry convened at the White House on Thursday for a high-level summit with the president, marking an unprecedented assembly not seen in nearly half a century.

The landmark gathering brought together top figures from several prominent movements, including delegations from Satmar, Bobov, Skver, Vizhnitz, and Lakewood. In a notable and deeply personal moment, the two estranged brothers serving as leaders of the two branches of the Satmar community warmly greeted each other upon arrival, sharing Berachos and a Mazel Tov on the engagement of a grandchild.

During the session, community advocates and rabbinical dignitaries presented key issues to administration officials, focusing substantial discussion on the religious rights and well-being of Jewish inmates within federal and state correctional facilities. Community delegates also emphasized the vital need to preserve the complete autonomy of private faith-based schools amid ongoing regulatory debates in New York State. Additional matters discussed included regional geopolitical considerations and legislative developments abroad.

The vice president joined the roundtable midway through the proceedings, engaging attendees in warm conversation regarding shared core values surrounding family and child-rearing.
