LFD: When we arrive at a fire, our hoselines provide the critical water supply firefighters need to put out the fire and attack the flames to protect lives and property.
We are reporting a recent incident where a private vehicle drove over a active fire hose, causing it to fail and disrupting water flow. This put our crews in immediate danger.
Driving over a fire hose can cause catastrophic failure, interrupt vital firefighting operations, and create an even larger emergency.
If you see a fire hose across the roadway, ALWAYS STOP and follow the directions of emergency personnel. Do not, under any circumstances, drive over hose.
