IDF Arrests Five Palestinians in West Bank Raid Over Alleged Attack Plot

Sep 4, 2026·2 min read

Israel Defense Forces commandos detained five Palestinians during an operation in the West Bank town of Qabatiya on Friday. The military said the suspects were allegedly preparing to carry out a terrorist attack.

According to the IDF, Duvdevan Commando Unit troops entered Qabatiya before dawn after receiving intelligence from the Shin Bet about a five-member Palestinian cell. The military said the suspects “who planned to carry out an attack against Israeli civilians and security forces.”

The commandos apprehended the five suspects “less than 10 minutes” after entering the locations where they were believed to be hiding, according to the IDF. The detainees were subsequently transferred to the Shin Bet for questioning.

No injuries were reported in the operation.

The IDF said troops also conducted searches of the suspects’ residences and discovered an assault rifle, ammunition and military equipment that had allegedly been concealed by the men.

In a separate operation, the military said it completed a 48-hour counterterrorism campaign in and around Nablus, in the northern West Bank. The operation resulted in the arrest of 10 Palestinian suspects and the seizure of equipment allegedly used to manufacture weapons.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commended the military’s Nablus operation, saying, “I congratulate our forces on a successful operation in Samaria [the biblical name for the northern West Bank], in which they destroyed dozens of workshops for the production of weapons, seized dozens of weapons, and arrested wanted individuals involved in terrorism.”

The IDF said troops operating under Shin Bet direction “searched hundreds of locations, questioned dozens of suspects and arrested more than 10 wanted individuals.”

Military forces reportedly destroyed more than 30 lathes believed to have been used in weapons production. Troops also confiscated rifles, handguns and ammunition during the operation.

Tensions and violence in the West Bank have risen significantly in recent months. Much of the violence has involved attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, although Palestinian attacks targeting Israelis have also occurred. Critics have accused the IDF and the government led by Netanyahu of tolerating or encouraging violence carried out by Israelis against Palestinians.
