Toms River PBA Local 137 and 137A are congratulating Sergeant Michael Gallipoli and Corporal Carl Basile following their recent retirements from law enforcement after distinguished careers of service to the community and country.

Sergeant Gallipoli began his career in public service with the United States Navy before returning home to Toms River and joining the Toms River Police Department.

During his years with the department, Gallipoli served in several roles, including as a longtime member of the Motor Unit. He was also a familiar participant in the annual Pros vs. Heroes football games and served for many years on the executive boards of both PBA Local 137 and 137A.

Gallipoli was later promoted to Sergeant, and during the final years of his career used his experience to mentor and train younger officers while helping prepare the department’s next generation of supervisors and leaders.

Corporal Basile also began his service in the military, serving in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he joined the New York City Police Department before continuing his law enforcement career with the Toms River Police Department.

During his time in Toms River, Basile distinguished himself as a Firearms Instructor and Cadet Advisor, helping train and guide officers and future members of the department.

“Thank you, Sergeant Gallipoli and Corporal Basile, for your service to our country, our department, and the Township of Toms River,” the PBA said. “You have earned every bit of this next chapter.”

The PBA wished both retirees well as they begin retirement following their many years of dedicated service.
