Doron Spielman, the spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, took the media to task in a Newsmax interview Sunday over the media’s coverage of settler violence in Judea and Samaria, accusing it of “dehumanizing the whole community.”

In the interview, Spielman referred to an HonestReporting study that showed that from January to July 2026, 77 outlets published 984 articles about settler violence compared with nine articles about Palestinian violence, a disparity of 109 to one, despite Arab violence resulting in the deaths of 25 Jews and injuries to 180 others. The publication of stories about settler violence peaked in June, although violent incidents had been falling since March by 25 percent, showing that the coverage does not reflect the reality.

Calling the HonestReporting statistic “unbelievable,” Spielman said that “the media bias is just so great. They’re lying to the public. They’re manipulating away the story.”

The spokesperson called for greater journalistic integrity.

“It’s journalistic, really, integrity that needs to move this back in the center court,” he said, pushing back on the narrative that Israel is doing nothing about the violence.

“Israel has been so clear to condemning these acts of violence and to working on it. We’ve heard it from everybody in the Judean Samaritan region. We heard it from the president. The prime minister speaks about this openly, and we’re dealing with this problem. That’s what you do if you’re in a major city and you have crime.”

He added that the difference between Israel and the Palestinian Authority is that the PA actively teaches and encourages violence.

“You deal with it, but you don’t train your kids to go out and kill people, and that is the policy of the Palestinian Authority, and they’re not only training; they’re paying for it with U.S. tax dollars by rewarding terrorists.”

Spielman concluded by urging the international community to apply pressure to the Palestinian Authority to stop its incitement to violence.

“We need the world to pressure the Palestinian Authority. Go deal with your problems and stop teaching your kids to hate and to murder,” he declared.
