Boro Park residents who noticed heavy smoke in the area or saw emergency vehicles rushing through the neighborhood Sunday morning were seeing the response to a serious fire in nearby Kensington.
A two-alarm fire broke out shortly before noon on Avenue C, with heavy smoke and flames shooting from a third-floor window.
Firefighters battled the flames for more than two hours as smoke could be seen billowing from the building.
Two people suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to Maimonides Hospital.
The fire caused significant damage to the building, including blown-out windows and damaged belongings piled up outside. The Department of Buildings issued a vacate order for the home, but a cause was not yet determined for the fire.
