NEW JERSEY: Gas Prices Surge to $4.27 Statewide, $4.29 in Monmouth-Ocean Area
Gas prices across New Jersey have climbed sharply, with the statewide average for regular gasoline reaching about $4.27 per gallon on Monday, according to AAA.
That is up from about $4.09 a gallon just one week ago and $3.17 at this time last year. In the Monmouth-Ocean area, which includes the Lakewood area, regular gasoline is averaging approximately $4.29 per gallon, up from $4.10 a week ago.
The national average stands at about $4.15 per gallon. AAA says this Labor Day is setting a new record at the pump, with the national average above $4 per gallon for the first time ever on Labor Day. Continued volatility affecting global oil supplies has helped push crude oil prices higher in recent weeks.
Despite the latest increase, New Jersey prices remain below the state’s all-time record average of $5.06 per gallon, reached in June 2022.
