More than one million New Jersey homeowners and renters are set to have their ANCHOR property tax relief applications filed automatically, with the first payments scheduled to begin going out on a rolling basis beginning September 15.

The state recently mailed ANCHOR Benefit Confirmation Letters to more than 537,000 homeowners and 549,000 renters who are expected to qualify for automatic filing. Residents who received a confirmation letter generally do not need to take any action.

However, anyone whose banking information, mailing address or other information has changed must submit an updated application by September 15. Residents who did not receive a confirmation letter but believe they are eligible can still apply, with the overall filing deadline set for November 2.

Eligible homeowners with 2025 income of $150,000 or less can receive $1,500, while homeowners earning between $150,001 and $250,000 can receive $1,000. Renters can receive $450, while qualifying renters age 65 or older can receive $700. Payments are expected to begin September 15 and generally arrive within 90 days of filing.

Seniors and certain disability benefit recipients use the state’s combined PAS-1 application for ANCHOR, Senior Freeze and Stay NJ benefits, with the same November 2 filing deadline.
