Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon told Piers Morgan on his show “Uncensored” Monday that the violence in Judea and Samaria is criminal in nature, not terroristic, and that it’s “more dangerous to be a Jew living in Judea and Samaria than a Palestinian.”

Morgan pressed Danon on U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee’s statement that the Jewish people in Judea and Samaria who engage in violence are terrorists, asking him if the U.S. official, whom Danon called “a great friend of Israel,” was wrong to characterize them that way.

Danon said that is indeed a mischaracterization, explaining that “when you speak about terrorist activities, you have to look for the pattern. You have to look for the budget and the ideology behind it. Here you have a case of few dozens criminals. Nobody is behind them. Nobody is organizing them. We have to put them behind bars, and we are doing that. But if you compare it to the Hamas terrorism, for example, when you have a radical jihadi ideology with an organization, with structure, funding, that’s terrorism.”

Danon also reminded Morgan that Huckabee had warned against applying the label of settler violence to the whole settler community.

“Ambassador Huckabee is a great friend of Israel, and if you pay attention to what he said, he actually spoke about few dozens who commit those horrible crimes,” Danon said. “And he actually said that you should not label the entire community in Judea and Samaria, more than half a million people, committing those crimes. It’s like you taking the entire city of Liverpool and you label the entire community as being criminals. We condemn those criminal acts. Period. The president, the prime minister, we take actions, we arrest them, we indict them, and we are doing more.”

When Morgan challenged Danon on what he called actual “acts of terrorism,” including arson and murder, Danon fired back that the terrorism is in fact the other way around.

“It is more dangerous to be a Jew living in Judea and Samaria than a Palestinian,” he said. “But in your show and in any other shows, nobody speaks about the violence against the Jewish communities; the focus is only on the criminal act of the of the Jewish communities of those dozens of criminals [that] we condemn. And I’m telling you that you will not find anyone in Israel with an official who supports those criminal acts. We are against it, and it’s not part of our society, and that is the difference.”

Danon also said that the international community needs a “reality check”: The Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria are there to stay, and calling them violent settlers will not change that fact.

“By labeling the Jewish communities as terrorists, you know it’s not going to move them anywhere. And I hear the voices coming from the U.K. threatening us: it is about time to have a reality check. The Jewish communities will not go anywhere. They will stay in Judea and Samaria forever,” he declared.
