After 13 Years: Popular Viznitz Vilchovitz Wedding Hall To Receive Official Name
For more than 13 years, the well-known wedding hall at Talmud Torah Meor Hachaim Viznitz has been popularly known as the “Vilchovitz Hall.” Now, for the first time since its opening, the hall has received an official name: the “Werdiger Hall.”
The familiar Vilchovitz name actually belonged to the building itself, not the wedding hall. The building was dedicated as “Binyan Vilchovitz” l’ilui nishmas R’ Shlomo Boruch Kest z”l of Los Angeles, who was born in the town of Vilchovitz.
When the building opened some 13 years ago, there was no separate donor for the naming of the wedding hall. With the hall located inside Binyan Vilchovitz, the community naturally began referring to it unofficially as “Vilchovitz Hall.”
Now, after 13 years, renowned philanthropist Reb Shlomo Werdiger has undertaken the naming of the hall, which will officially be known as the “Werdiger Hall,” in memory of his late father, Reb Nechemia Werdiger z”l.
