Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Mount Hermon in Syria alongside Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Tamir Yadai. Netanyahu was briefed by Northern Command chief Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo and 210th Division commander Brig.-Gen. Yair Palai on IDF operations in the area.

Speaking from the mountain ahead of Rosh Hashanah, Netanyahu said Israel currently has “absolute control” over the area and will not allow “any terrorist army to establish itself on our border.” He added that Israel’s main remaining task is to defeat the “terrorist regime in Iran,” saying, “We are very close to it,” before wishing Israelis and IDF soldiers a happy new year.
