ATLANTA (VINnews) – Delta Air Lines and Hyatt Hotels Corp. are launching a new loyalty partnership designed to link their airline and hotel rewards programs.
The exclusive relationship between Delta SkyMiles and World of Hyatt is expected to begin in the coming months. The companies said the initial benefits will be aimed at elite members, with additional details on eligibility and rewards to be announced later.
Under the new arrangement, eligible Delta Medallion members will be able to earn SkyMiles when they spend on qualifying Hyatt stays, while elite World of Hyatt members will earn Hyatt points on eligible Delta fares. Members will also continue receiving certain benefits from their respective loyalty programs.
The companies said the partnership could eventually expand to include additional earning opportunities, personalized benefits and access to special travel and entertainment experiences.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the partnership is intended to extend the airline’s premium service beyond the flight itself.
Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian said the agreement reflects a shared goal of giving travelers a more connected experience throughout their trips.
Delta serves more than 200 million customers annually and flies to more than 300 destinations across six continents. Hyatt operates 36 brands in 83 countries.
The companies encouraged travelers to enroll in both SkyMiles and World of Hyatt ahead of the launch.
