SHANA TOVA, IRAN: Katz Says Israeli Strike Could Set Iran ‘Back Decades’
Defense Minister Israel Katz sent Rosh Hashanah greetings to Iran, with messages specifically tailored to different Iranian communities, including a stark warning to the Iranian regime.
Addressing the Jewish community, Katz said, “As we approach Rosh Hashanah, I want to send a Shana Tova blessing to the Jewish community in Iran and wish them a good and safe year. You are part of a glorious Jewish history, and you will always be in our hearts.”
To the people of Iran, Katz said, “I wish that the coming year will bring a free Iran liberated from tyranny and oppression.”
Katz then said economic pressure on Iran may prompt the regime to attack Israel and warned the Islamic Republic that an Israeli response will be devastating.
Speaking directly to the government of Iran, Katz said, “Any attack on Israel, for any reason and from anywhere, will be met with a powerful response that will inflict severe damage on Iran unlike anything it has suffered before, including to its key energy facilities, which provide resources and capabilities for Iran’s war and terror apparatus and its attacks on Israeli civilians.”
“In accordance with the directives of the prime minister and myself, the IDF is on high alert and prepared to carry out the mission. Such a strike would set Iran back decades and further destabilize the ayatollah regime, which the Iranian people deeply despise and long to see fall,” he added.
