Dear Editor:
I am writing because I am truly broken and hurt for the tragedies that happened this year all over, not only lakewood, five towns, monsey – every Jewish community was affected…….
I would like to share my personal story with you. Twenty four years ago my son died on the delivery table in a cord accident. Needless to say that my life has changed instantly and will never go back to the way it was. In addition, recently, I saw the beautiful story of Shalom for Charlotte which broke every human heart. The family managed to find Hashem and spread light – when darkness was around them. There is something beautiful that comes out of humility and there is nothing more humbling than losing a child/sibling.
When I hear of alienation – I also always hear the words – time to heal – not ready etc. Everyone knows its just words to rationalize the desires of the ego and to go down a path created by the evil inclination. Good luck to all of you who do this to your parents or others who are complicit in helping these children make poor choices.
What happened to me and others who lost young ones – we can never know what caused this tragedy. However, for sure, I have become more sensitive to alienation inasmuch as my son needed to be buried as it is a commandment in the torah while other children bury their parents alive obviously it is no mitzva – quite the contrary – despite what other therapists or rabbanim say.
Keep in mind, life is short, if you hurt someone, wait – its not the end of the story. Look no further than the torah, the stories of the torah show us what Carma is and it is called midda kneged midda. Never wonder why things are great even though there is deception and fraud lying right next to you. Hashem does not forget any deed.
I close with a blessing that people should ask themselves every day as many times as they can, “Is Hashem happy with my choices.” Those who have alienated their parents obviously know the answer is a big NO. But their fragile ego is stubborn.
