An Israeli Air Force strike carried out overnight Thursday in Khan Yunis killed Muhammad Yazouri, the commander of Hamas’s Khan Yunis Brigade, the IDF announced Friday.
According to the IDF, Yazouri previously served as deputy commander of the Khan Yunis Brigade, led its Combat Support Battalion, and headed the brigade’s Intelligence Department before becoming its commander.
The strike hit a vehicle in the Hamad neighborhood, north of Khan Yunis. Arab media reported that a residential apartment on the first floor of Tower M subsequently caught fire.
The IDF said the same strike also killed Hudheifa Muammar, a company commander, as well as another Hamas terrorist, Muhammad Bahjat Rashi.
IDF, Shin Bet and Israel Police Eliminate Hamas Terrorist Linked to 2002 Shooting
On Thursday, the IDF, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), and Israel Police announced that Israeli security forces had eliminated Hamas terrorist Farah Hamed. The security agencies said Hamed had been responsible for a series of deadly attacks targeting Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers and later played a role in directing terrorist activity in the West Bank.
According to the security agencies, Hamed was killed Wednesday during a joint operation by the Shin Bet, IDF, and Israel Police that involved a strike in the central Gaza Strip.
One of the attacks attributed to Hamed was a November 2002 shooting near Rimonim Junction, in which Israeli civilian Esther Galia Atiya was killed.
