Village of Lawrence & Liberty Water Near Completion of Joint Infrastructure Project
The Village of Lawrence announced that its comprehensive municipal infrastructure improvement project, conducted in close partnership with Liberty Water, is approaching its final stages.
According to Liberty Water, infrastructure upgrades were selected after a comprehensive review of the age and condition of existing water mains, repair history, and customer service data, including water pressure concerns and service complaints. These improvements are designed to address water pressure deficiencies, accommodate increased demand on the system, and enhance overall water quality for residents.
Through proactive inter-agency coordination, Liberty Water is wrapping up essential subterranean water main replacements prior to surface paving, protecting local roadways and preventing post-construction utility cuts.
“We’re proud to collaborate with the Village of Lawrence on projects that strengthen the community and support our customers,” said Deborah Franco, President of Liberty New York Water. “By working together, we can deliver improvements that make a real difference for the people who live and work here.
Mayor Samuel Nahmias, Village of Lawrence, thanked Liberty Water for their partnership, “This is in conjunction with a great partnership with our utility providers… Liberty… coordinating the repair of the roads prior to the installation of new piping. We met, we are working together, getting new piping into the ground, and then we’re paving these roads that need to be paved. That’s in conjunction with great partnerships, so I just want to say thank you.”
Mayor Nahmias emphasized that replacing aging water infrastructure is a vital, smart investment that strengthens water service reliability while ensuring that newly resurfaced roads will not be disturbed by future utility excavations.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS & UPCOMING STEPS:
* Subsurface Liberty Water Upgrades: Installation of modernized water piping to reinforce water system capacity, improve pressure, and elevate overall water quality.
* Synchronized Resurfacing Operations: Following the completion of the water main replacement work, the Village of Lawrence will repave the affected roadways to ensure streets are fully restored and improved for residents.
* Taxpayer Investment Protection: Syncing subterranean pipe replacements prior to paving preserves newly laid asphalt and extends road life.
Final asphalt paving across targeted village roadways will wrap up in the coming weeks throughout the months of September-October with minimal impact to local traffic.
