
Four-Alarm Fire Rips Through Williamsburg Restaurant, Injuring Six Firefighters
A massive four-alarm fire tore through a Williamsburg restaurant Shabbos evening, injuring six firefighters and causing a partial collapse inside the building.
The fire broke out shortly before 5:30 p.m. at Juliette Restaurant, located at 135 North 5th Street. As flames spread through the building, the FDNY continued upgrading the response, eventually bringing the blaze to a fourth alarm.
More than 230 firefighters and EMS personnel were called to the scene as crews worked to bring the heavy fire under control. Thick smoke could be seen pouring from the building and spreading across the surrounding area.
During the operation, a portion of the building collapsed. Six firefighters suffered minor injuries, according to the FDNY. Four were transported to Woodhull Hospital, while another injured firefighter declined medical treatment.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
