New Jersey drivers continue to feel the pain at the pump, with gas prices on track to set a new September record.
According to AAA, the statewide average for regular gasoline stood at $4.39 per gallon on Friday, just below the national average of $4.49. The current price is well above New Jersey’s previous September monthly record of $3.83 per gallon, set in 2023.
Diesel prices are also hovering near record levels, sitting just three cents below a record high reached earlier in the week.
AAA says restricted oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz are among the factors contributing to the elevated prices, keeping pressure on motorists across New Jersey, including drivers in the Lakewood area.
