Trump Addresses Oct. 7 Warnings For First Time: “I Don’t Believe Netanyahu Was Warned”
WASHINGTON (VINnews) – President Donald Trump is addressing for the first time reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received warnings from Egypt about the Hamas attack before Oct. 7, saying he does not believe Netanyahu was warned.
“I don’t think so,” Trump said in an interview with Time published Thursday. “I think if he would have known, he would have done something about it.”
Trump said he had heard the reports for the first time and added that Netanyahu would at least have put Israeli forces on alert if he had received such a warning.
Netanyahu responded on X: “President Trump is right.”
Trump was also asked about Israel’s upcoming election and whether he believed Netanyahu should win another term. He declined to endorse him, saying, “I’m not involved in politics anymore.”

Asked about former military chief and politician Gadi Eisenkot, Trump said he had not heard anything bad about him but added that he would not “write off Bibi.”
The comments come as a dispute intensifies in Israel over reports that Egyptian officials warned Israeli authorities about preparations for a major Hamas attack before Oct. 7.
Netanyahu has denied receiving an Egyptian warning and has rejected reports that he spoke with Egypt’s intelligence chief, Abbas Kamel, shortly before the attack.
Netanyahu has instead accused former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar of failing to properly act on warning signs before the attack. Bar has rejected the allegations and said he plans to sue Netanyahu for defamation, demanding the release of documents and testimony concerning warnings provided to the prime minister.
The competing claims have become part of a broader dispute over who knew what before the attack and how Israeli security agencies responded to warnings before the assault.
