Major G Train Service Changes Planned Throughout October

Williamsburg residents who rely on the G train should prepare for a series of weeknight and weekend service changes throughout October as the MTA carries out signal modernization, track replacement and structural maintenance work.

The disruptions will begin next week, with Church Avenue-bound G trains skipping several Brooklyn stations during overnight hours from Monday, October 5, through Friday, October 9. Trains will skip 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Pkwy from 10:45 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

A more significant disruption is planned for October 12 through October 16, when there will be no G train service between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Court Square from 9:45 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. due to structural maintenance.

During those hours, G trains will operate only between Church Avenue and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues. Free shuttle buses will make stops between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Court Square, with riders able to transfer between the train and shuttle buses at Bedford-Nostrand Avenues.

Additional overnight track work from October 12 through October 16 and again October 19 through October 23 will cause Church Avenue-bound G trains to skip 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Pkwy between 10:45 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Weekend riders will also face disruptions.

From Friday night, October 9, through Monday morning, October 12, Church Avenue-bound G trains will skip 4 Av-9 St, 15 St-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Pkwy.

More extensive changes are scheduled for the weekends of October 16-19 and October 23-26, when there will be no G train service between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets and Church Avenue from Friday at 9:30 p.m. through Monday at 5:00 a.m.

During those weekends, G trains will operate in two sections: between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues, and between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets. Riders continuing through Bedford-Nostrand Avenues will need to transfer, and trains between Bedford-Nostrand and Hoyt-Schermerhorn will operate approximately every 20 minutes.

The MTA says the planned disruptions are necessary for ongoing track work, structural maintenance and modernization of the Crosstown Line's signal system.

Williamsburg residents traveling during the affected nights and weekends are advised to allow additional travel time and check service information before heading out.
