Clashes in Meah Shearim: Police Use Stun Grenades After Entering to Remove Palestinian Flag, 3 Arrested

Oct 5, 2026·1 min read

Clashes broke out in recent hours in Meah Shearim after Jerusalem police officers who came to remove a Palestinian flag in the Chareidi neighborhood were met with resistance. Residents threw objects at the officers, including bottles and eggs, and police responded with stun grenades.

During the operation, police arrested three suspects, among them a child, for stone-throwing and disturbing public order. All of the suspects were transferred for further questioning at the police station. Police say forces are also conducting searches and overt and covert investigative activity to locate and arrest others involved in the assault and disturbances.

Israel Police said in a statement that it “views with great severity any attempt to harm civilians, police officers and law enforcement personnel who come to carry out their duties. The police will continue to act with determination, with a firm hand and with zero tolerance against any lawbreaker who acts violently, disturbs public order and attempts to harm the security forces.”
