Trump Believes Iran Was Behind Flydubai Attack; Vance Says He Hasn’t Seen Conclusive Evidence
President Donald Trump said Monday that he personally believes Iran was responsible for last week’s flydubai attack, hours after Vice President JD Vance said he had not seen conclusive evidence linking Tehran to the incident.
“I do. I personally do,” Trump told reporters when asked whether Iran was responsible. He did not explain the basis for his assessment.
Earlier, Vance said U.S. officials were examining a possible Iranian connection, but deferred to CIA Director John Ratcliffe and intelligence officials. “I wouldn’t say I’ve seen anything conclusive just yet,” he said before departing for Alaska.
The investigation centers on an Omani co-pilot accused of attacking the captain and attempting to seize control of a Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight. Shin Bet investigators are participating in his interrogation in the United Arab Emirates, as authorities examine whether he acted independently or had outside backing.
The Times of Israel reported that Israeli security officials have so far assessed that the co-pilot acted alone. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also said it is too early to determine whether Iran was involved.
