Poland’s Embassy in Washington is demanding that Tucker Carlson publicly withdraw comments about Nazi Germany’s 1939 invasion of Poland, accusing the American commentator of distorting the historical record and minimizing the significance of Hitler’s aggression.

In a sharply worded letter dated October 5, Bogdan Klich, Poland’s chargé d’affaires, said he was “outraged” by Carlson’s recent discussion with British politician Jacob Rees-Mogg. Carlson questioned Britain’s decision to enter World War II and argued that Hitler had legitimate reasons for invading Poland, pointing to German territorial claims.

The Polish diplomat wrote:

“As an American journalist who enjoys the democratic right to the freedom of speech, you have now become an apologist for Adolf Hitler.”

Klich accused Carlson of relying on Nazi-era claims while ignoring the broader circumstances surrounding Germany’s invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939.

The letter continued:

“In doing so, you resort to lies, completely falsifying the documented historical record.”

Klich also rejected Carlson’s suggestion that Britain’s entry into the war was unnecessary, arguing that Nazi Germany’s aggression extended far beyond its territorial claims and was part of a broader campaign of conquest.

The Polish Embassy said Carlson’s comments were particularly offensive given the enormous number of victims of Nazi Germany, including millions of Polish civilians and Jews, as well as American servicemen who fought against the Third Reich.

Klich demanded that Carlson:

“immediately and publicly retract and apologize for these deceitful and disgraceful statements.”

He concluded with a warning about the consequences of distorting history:

“History must not be distorted. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Carlson has not publicly responded to the Polish Embassy’s demand as of Monday evening.
