Bikur Cholim of Rockland County Thanks Governor Kathy Hochul for Continued Support at Helen Hayes Hospital
Yisroel R.
Bikur Cholim of Rockland County is expressing its gratitude to Governor Kathy Hochul and her administration for their continued support in helping accommodate the religious needs of Jewish patients and their families at Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw.
The organization says its relationship with the Governor’s Office has continued to grow stronger, creating an open line of communication and a greater understanding of the unique needs that can arise for Jewish patients who find themselves hospitalized over Shabbos or Yom Tov.
That cooperation was once again strongly evident over Sukkos, when the Governor’s Office assisted with arrangements surrounding the sukkah, helping patients and their families observe the Yom Tov while at the hospital.
Bikur Cholim extended special appreciation to Eva Wyner Rosen, Governor Kathy Hochul’s Director of Jewish Affairs and Mr. Paul Adler, for their continued assistance and responsiveness to the needs of the community.
Special thanks were also extended to Yvonne Evans, MSHS, RN, Chief Administrator of Helen Hayes Hospital, for her cooperation and role in helping facilitate accommodations for Jewish patients and their families.
Helen Hayes Hospital, located on Route 9W in West Haverstraw, is operated by the New York State Department of Health and specializes in physical rehabilitation for patients recovering from serious injuries, illnesses, and other disabling conditions. The hospital has long worked to accommodate the needs of Jewish patients and families, with ongoing plans to expand its dedicated Shabbos Room to include sleeping accommodations in the coming months.
Bikur Cholim said it is grateful for the continued understanding and cooperation and looks forward to further strengthening its relationship with the Hochul administration and hospital leadership to ensure Jewish patients and their families can maintain their religious needs while receiving care at Helen Hayes Hospital.
