
Jackson Police Issue Over 700 Traffic Tickets During 3-Month Enforcement Campaign
Jackson Police issued 767 traffic summonses and made 10 arrests during a three-month traffic enforcement campaign from July through September.
The enforcement was part of the department’s CAT (Crash Abatement and Tactics) grant, a federally funded program that provides overtime funding for officers to focus on traffic safety.
Officers worked 476 hours during the three-month period and made 1,002 motor vehicle stops. They also issued 234 warnings.
The enforcement focused on several major roads in Jackson, including East Veterans Highway, Hope Chapel Road, Cassville Road, Toms River Road, Whitesville Road, Cedar Swamp Road, Bennetts Mills Road, New Prospect Road, Jackson Mills Road and County Line Road.
Among the violations issued were 69 expired registration violations, 78 speeding tickets, 30 careless driving violations, 36 seatbelt violations, 14 child seat violations, 61 cell phone violations, 42 stop sign violations, 18 suspended driver’s license violations, 38 unlicensed or expired license violations, 48 inspection violations, 14 no liability insurance violations, 24 unclear or no front plate violations, 60 violations for failing to show documents, 71 delaying traffic violations, 14 obstructed view violations and 25 maintenance of lamps violations.
Officers also issued tickets for reckless driving, move-over violations, tinted windows, suspended registration and other violations.
The department also partnered with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department on a separate Route 528 grant covering East and West Veterans Highway. The grant ran from June through August, with 100 hours of enforcement and 169 summonses issued.
Jackson Police also reported that 1,113 parking summonses have been issued so far this year, compared with 428 during all of 2025.
