Boro Park residents passing by 13th Avenue and 47th Street may have noticed a new name on the local bank branch, as the longtime Flushing Bank location is now transitioning to OceanFirst Bank.

The change follows OceanFirst Financial Corp.’s $579 million acquisition of Flushing Financial Corporation, the parent company of Flushing Bank. The merger was completed on June 1, 2026, bringing Flushing Bank’s branches under OceanFirst.

The 13th Avenue branch is among the locations making the transition, with new OceanFirst Bank signage already in place.

OceanFirst has said that the existing Flushing Bank branches will remain open, with local customers continuing to have access to their accounts and banking services as the transition takes place. Current cards and checks are also expected to continue working during the technology transition.
