Iran Israel Updates Oct 6

- Israel’s National Security Council is warning Israelis and Jews abroad to exercise increased vigilance as the third anniversary of the October 7 massacre approaches. According to the NSC, Iran and its proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah and global jihadist organizations remain highly motivated to target Israelis and Jews overseas. Officials warn that October 7 could become a focal point for attempted terrorist attacks, violent demonstrations and disturbances. 

- US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the biggest problem for him is that nobody knows who is running Iran.

- Expected Iranian drone attack led to removal of US bombers from UK airbase. Iran has denied any involvement in any alleged plot at RAF Fairford, the preferred European ​base for US bombers.

- Recent satellite imagery reportedly shows renewed activity at the Min-Zadayi nuclear weapons development compound northeast of Tehran. Israel struck the secret facility on March 3, destroying several buildings and likely damaging underground infrastructure. The Institute for Science and International Security confirmed extensive destruction at the heavily secured site immediately after the strike. 

- Israeli sources tell CBS News that Israel was ready to shoot down flydubai Flight 1073 with all passengers onboard after the Omani copilot attacked the captain, scrambling fighter jets before calling them off as the plane went to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. The sources say that as part of a protocol for a potential 9/11-style incident, the Israeli Air Force sought to contact the cockpit after the plane made a sharp plunge, but didn’t receive an answer. A committee formed in advanced was then swiftly convened and a command center was set up, as fighter jets were scrambled and Israel closed its airspace, according to the report.


- The warplanes were called back however once Israel realized that the plane was turning to Saudi Arabia, which had scrambled its own fighter jets.

- Qatar says the United States and Iran are still engaged in talks to end the Middle East war, despite an apparent deadlock seven months into the conflict.

- Defense Minister Israel Katz says he has instructed the military to “increase its readiness and be prepared for any possible scenario in Gaza” ahead of the third anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 onslaught tomorrow.

- Some 1,240 aircrew members from countries that do not have diplomatic relations with Israel have entered the country over the past year, according to Hebrew media reports citing leaked remarks from a closed-door meeting of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

- The White House pushes back after Democrats accuse US President Donald Trump of suggesting Iran should “take out” the major American cities of Los Angeles and San Diego.Viral footage shows comments by Trump at a midterm elections rally in Nebraska on Monday, where he said high oil prices from the Iran war were justified by the need to stop Tehran getting nuclear weapons. “It’s a little bit high. It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe,” Trump said. “They can take out a city. Let them take, let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay, and it’s going to be over with very soon.”
