Board of Peace Says October 7 War Left Deep Regional Wounds, Urges Gaza Plan to Move Forward

Oct 7, 2026·2 min read

The US-backed Board of Peace marked the third anniversary of the Hamas-led October 7 attack by honoring those killed and abducted while acknowledging the extensive suffering experienced by Israelis and Palestinians during the ensuing war. The organization also reaffirmed its support for advancing the US-backed initiative aimed at achieving Gaza’s “demilitarization and deradicalization.”

“We remember those murdered and taken from us, and we will not allow their loss to be forgotten,” the Board said in a lengthy statement posted on X. “We also lament the immense loss of life and profound suffering endured by Israelis and Palestinians in the war unleashed by Hamas on October 7. That suffering has left deep wounds across the region,” it added.

The international body praised US President Donald Trump for his “commitment to the people of Israel” and credited his administration with helping secure the return of the remaining hostages from Gaza last year. The Board said it intends to use its mandate from the United Nations Security Council to help implement Trump’s 20-point proposal for Gaza.

“Genuine and durable security for Israel is the foundation on which any peace must be built, and it is the surest guarantee that no October 7 will ever happen again,” the Board wrote.
