Zev Brenner: Flydubai 2nd Row Passenger Hero Daniel Schlichter on The Real Story
This video features an interview with Daniel Schlichter, a passenger on Flydubai flight FZ1073, who recounts his experience during an attempted cockpit attack on October 2nd.
While flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv, a passenger near the cockpit alerted others that the pilot was being stabbed. Schlichter heard a physical struggle inside the cockpit, identifying it as a terrorist attack.
Several Israeli passengers, including Yaniv and Assaf, rushed to the cockpit to subdue the attacker, fighting him off despite the extreme danger. Schlichter assisted by providing headphones to help tie the attacker’s hands and feet.
The aircraft lost approximately 15,000 feet in under a minute. Fortunately, other pilots on board managed to enter the cockpit and stabilize the plane.
A dentist on board, Dr. Shuta, provided medical care to the injured pilot. Schlichter notes that despite the chaos, the crew and passengers ultimately regained control of the situation.
Schlichter describes the event as a “divine set of miracles” and emphasizes the bravery of the ordinary passengers who reacted with instinct to save those on board.
