IDF Captain Killed, Three Soldiers Lightly Hurt After Humvee Overturns In Southern Lebanon
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — An Israeli army captain was killed and three other soldiers were lightly injured Thursday when a military Humvee overturned during an operation in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The military identified the fallen officer as Capt. Eliav Haim Tzapalamus, 21, of Haifa, a combat officer in the 7th Brigade’s 603rd Battalion. His family has been notified.
According to the IDF, the vehicle overturned in the afternoon during operational activity by a 7th Brigade force in the Litani area of southern Lebanon. Tzapalamus was killed in the crash. The three wounded soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for treatment, and their families were notified. The army described the incident as an operational accident.
The IDF cleared Tzapalamus’ name for publication after his family was informed. No further details on the circumstances of the rollover were immediately released.
Israeli forces have continued to operate in southern Lebanon, including in the Litani sector, amid ongoing friction with Hezbollah. The 7th Brigade is an armored formation; its 603rd Battalion has taken part in engineering and route-opening work in the Litani area during the current campaign.
