Yeshiva Darchei Torah Announces Camp Malchus, a New Summer Day Camp
Yeshiva Darchei Torah has announced a major change to its summer camp programs, sharing plans to close Simcha Day Camp and Machaneh Hakayitz and introduce an entirely new camp, Camp Malchus, for Summer 2027.
In a letter to the community, the yeshiva explained the decision and outlined its vision for a new summer experience for children in the Five Towns, Far Rockaway and beyond.
“Dear Parents, Neighbors and Friends,
From its inception, Yeshiva Darchei Torah has always been more than just a school.
We are a yeshiva. We are a thriving makom Torah. And we are a year-round resource for the entire community.
Two of the Yeshiva’s community treasures have been Simcha Day Camp, which we inherited when we purchased the campus in 1990; and Machaneh Hakayitz, which opened in 2009. Both have been dynamic centers of activity every summer, serving thousands of children from Far Rockaway, the Five Towns and beyond. Both have also been incredibly successful programs.
However, we have come to the realization that it no longer makes sense for the Yeshiva to operate these two camps on the same campus simultaneously, even though each camp had its own unique ‘flavor’ and character.
We have therefore come to the decision to close both Simcha Day Camp and Machaneh Hakayitz, and to establish an entirely new program for Summer 2027, Camp Malchus, which will take some of the greatest qualities of the previous camps and enhance them, while introducing entirely new activities, projects, and trips.
It must be emphasized that Camp Malchus is not merely a new name or ‘rebrand’ of an existing program; it will be an entirely new camp, with new experiences geared for today’s children—on our 9-acre campus.
Be’ezras Hashem, we look forward to publishing more details of this exciting new venture in the coming days and weeks, and to continue to serve this community 365 days a year.
The Hanhala”
