IDF Eliminates Three Hamas, Islamic Jihad Terrorists in Gaza Airstrikes
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Israel Defense Forces said Friday it killed three terrorists from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, accusing them of preparing attacks on Israeli troops and working to rebuild militant capabilities in violation of the ceasefire.
The military identified the dead as Hassam Walid Hassan Abu Al-Ata, a commander in the rocket unit of Islamic Jihad’s military wing, struck in Gaza City; Magdi Moein Yousef Al-Ayoubi, an Islamic Jihad operative, also struck in Gaza City; and Muhammad Aja, a company commander in Hamas’ military wing, struck in the Al-Furqan area.
The IDF said the three had recently moved to advance attacks against Israeli forces and had operated to restore the groups’ capabilities, which it described as a systematic breach of the ceasefire. They were killed in aerial strikes, the military said.
Before the strikes, the IDF said it took steps to limit harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
Troops under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area under the terms of the agreement and will continue to act against any immediate threat, the military said.
The IDF did not say whether Hamas or Islamic Jihad had confirmed the deaths. The claims could not be independently verified.
The strikes follow other Israeli operations this week against operatives the military has accused of planning attacks and rebuilding militant infrastructure while the ceasefire remains in effect.
