Newly released statistics from the British Home Office show that Jews in England and Wales are nine times more likely to be the victims of hate crimes than Muslims.

The figures show that in the 12 months preceding March 2026, Jews suffered from hate crimes at a rate of 116.5 per 10,000 people, while Muslims suffered from hate crimes at a rate of 13.3 per 10,000 people.

The report also included the following sobering statistics:

• Hate crimes increased by 7 percent in the period covered to 146,825 incidents.
• Religiously motivated hate crimes increased by 13 percent to 11,419 offenses.
• Racially motivated hate crimes increased by 9 percent to 107,926 violations.
• Hate crimes against Muslims increased by 15 percent compared to 10 percent for Jews.
• Hate crimes against Jews reached their highest recorded level.

The Home Office said the sharp rise in hate crimes occurred in October 2025 “following a series of antisemitic crimes after the Heaton Park Synagogue terror attack and have been at an elevated level since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict.”

The Community Security Trust (CST), a British charity that protects Jews from antisemitism by raising government funds and organizing security for Jewish institutions and investigating and reporting hate crime data, said, “Antisemitic hate crime remains at an unacceptably high level.”

Citing “an urgent need to reduce the amount of incitement connected to conflict overseas,” the organization added that “much more needs to be done across society to tackle this problem.”
