Coordinated Bomb Threats Trigger Urgent Police Response at Brooklyn Yeshivas

Oct 9, 2026·3 min read

Law enforcement personnel rushed to multiple Yeshivas across Brooklyn on Friday morning following back-to-back security alerts that triggered immediate campus lockdowns, emergency evacuations, and intense police sweeps. Yeshivah of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School and V’yol Moshe at 590 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg were both targeted.

Emergency units and specialized canine teams were dispatched to campus facilities in both Flatbush and Williamsburg after threatening calls were placed within minutes of each other. School administrators acted quickly to secure buildings, instituting rigorous safety protocols while law enforcement conducted exhaustive room-by-room searches to identify potential hazards. Following detailed inspections, authorities confirmed that no hazardous materials or explosive devices were located, and the reported alerts were ultimately deemed non-credible. As a safety measure, students were safely dismissed for the day while investigators work to trace the origins of the calls.

The dual security scares unfolded against a backdrop of escalating unease within area neighborhoods. Community members across the region have remained on elevated alert following recent demonstrations throughout New York where crowds gathered openly voicing hostility and vocal support for extremist groups. While investigators have not linked the threatening phone calls to specific rallies, local leaders and families have expressed growing concern regarding the safety and security of regional yeshivas, shuls, and communal centers.

Specialized investigative units remain actively engaged in tracking the electronic trail of the phoned-in threats to identify and apprehend the responsible individuals. Meanwhile, neighborhood community patrols and municipal security details have increased their visible presence around area academic centers and surrounding corridors heading into the weekend. Community organizations continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and immediately notify emergency personnel of any unusual activity.

Mayor Mamdani, this is not normal. Don’t add to the hatred.

🚨 Security/Bomb threats at two different Jewish schools in Brooklyn. One morning. @NYCMayor this isn’t a coincidence based on the timing of your criticisms of 10/7.

Yeshivah of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School is in a full lockdown. The school told parents the NYPD is on scene for a suspicious situation and asked families not to come to the building.

At the same time, V’yol Moshe at 590 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg was evacuated over a reported bomb threat. Bedford Avenue is closed. The Bomb Squad was requested. Kids are out. Reported by Williamsburg 365 News.

This is the second time this week of school threats in this city. Tuesday it was 5 different public schools from Dyker Heights, Upper East Side, and Queens. Today it is yeshivas.

Parents: stay off the buildings until the schools and the NYPD say otherwise. A crowd does not help a lockdown.
No device confirmed. No all-clear yet.

Charge whoever called these in.
