Clarkstown Highway Superintendent Bob Milone has responded to the town’s announcement of a workplace investigation following Thursday’s heated confrontation with Town Supervisor George Hoehmann, calling the investigation an “abuse of government resources.”
The investigation was launched after a widely circulated video published by Rockland Daily showed Milone confronting Hoehmann during a press conference on the upcoming Congers Lake Trailway repairs. Following the incident, the town announced that a police report had been filed and its Safety Compliance Officer had been notified.
In a statement responding to the investigation, Milone accused Hoehmann of using taxpayer resources against political opponents, claiming the town supervisor has been targeting him since he began running as a Democrat.
Milone also offered his account of Thursday’s confrontation, claiming that Hoehmann told him to “get lost” when he arrived at the town-run press conference and threatened to cancel the event rather than stand alongside him.
Calling the workplace investigation “more of the same abuse of government resources,” Milone announced that he intends to file complaints with the Rockland County District Attorney and the New York State Attorney General over what he described as a pattern of misuse.
Milone concluded his statement by saying that while he does not consider himself a politician, he remains committed to standing up for the residents of Clarkstown.
The Town of Clarkstown previously stated that it takes workplace violence complaints seriously and is committed to thoroughly reviewing the incident.
