Obama ENDORSES ‘The Most Antisemitic Candidate in America’ El-Sayed
Former President Barack Obama endorsed Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed from Michigan in an ad Monday, saying that the idea upon which the United States was established is “under attack” and that “Michigan is where we fight back.”
The former Democratic president opened the ad by saying, “Two hundred and fifty years ago, America was founded on a simple idea: This country belongs to all of us, not just the wealthy, not just the well-connected, everyone.”
“Today, that idea is under attack. In Michigan is where we fight back,” he continued. “That’s why I’m asking you to support Abdul El-Sayed for the United States Senate.”
Obama referenced El-Sayed’s medical background to showcase his qualifications for the position.
“Abdul is a doctor and he’s taken on special interests to fight for good jobs, better healthcare, and lower costs,” he said. “Abdul has never taken corporate money. He understands that healthcare is a human right, and he thinks we should invest here instead of wasting money on endless wars.”
“So make your voice heard,” he concluded. “Vote. Make a plan to vote by election Day November third at Iwillvote.com.”
The Republican Jewish Coalition has called El-Sayed the “most antisemitic Senate candidate in America,” and long-time Jewish Democrats in Michigan have said they are prepared to cross the aisle to vote for his opponent, former Republican congressman Mike Rogers.
With the last U.S. Senate race in Michigan decided by 19,006 votes, and with 100,000 to 130,000 Jewish residents in Michigan, the Jewish vote could prove to be decisive. Jews have traditionally voted for the Democratic Party, seeing that as part of their identity, but many told Fox News in August that concern over El-Sayed’s anti-Israel positions and his ties to antisemites like Hasan Piker was strong enough to persuade them to cast their votes for the Republican.
