A touching message shared with 5 Towns Central highlights the dedication of a local crossing guard who showed up for the children of our community, even on a day when she could have stayed home.

Her heartfelt response is a beautiful reminder of the people who care for our children every day, often without recognition.

5TC received the following message:

“This morning, as the crossing guard on Beach 9th Street helped me cross with two children in my double stroller, I asked her, “Don’t you have off for Columbus Day?”

Her answer brought tears to my eyes.

“But MY children still have school today!”

She was talking about OUR Jewish children! ❤️

On a day she could have stayed home, she STILL showed up because “HER children” needed her!

To her, they’re not just children crossing the street. They’re HER children, and she cares about every single one of them! ❤️

Sometimes the most beautiful hearts belong to the people quietly looking out for our children every single day.
