Terror Convict Gets HERO Treatment: Giant Barghouti Statue Appears in London

Oct 13, 2026·2 min read

Palestine House in London is paying homage to terrorism with a display of a giant bronze statue of convicted terrorist Marwan Barghouti, his raised hands handcuffed together, on its balcony.

Established in 2024 by Palestinian filmmaker and activist Osama Qashoo, Palestine House is a hub for Palestinians to gather and connect at art exhibitions, book launches, film screenings, poetry circles, cooking courses, and live performances.

Marwan Barghouti serves as the face of the Palestinian “resistance” or “armed struggle,” euphemisms for terrorism against the civilians who live in the State of Israel. He recently made the news when celebrities called for his release from Israeli prison, where he is serving five consecutive life sentences for orchestrating terror attacks that killed five people.

A number of Marvel celebrities, including famous household names such as Mark Ruffalo, Javier Bardem, and Olivia Colman, called for the release of Barghouti, alleging that he has suffered mistreatment and his rights have been denied while in prison.

Barghouti was convicted by an Israeli court for his role in the 2001 and 2002 attacks that left five Israelis dead. He was sentenced to five consecutive life terms plus 40 years.

Barghouti initially supported the Oslo peace process after the First Intifada but turned to terrorism during the Second Intifada, when he assumed a commanding role in orchestrating the terror wave. He continued acting as the face of the resistance in prison, issuing directives urging “resistance” against Israel, directing prisoner uprisings, and promoting himself as the possible successor to Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority.

An August poll from the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research showed that Barghouti was the leading presidential candidate. In a hypothetical matchup against Hamas’ leader Khalil al-Hayya and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, the imprisoned terrorist took 54 percent of the vote.
