Anti-Zionist Group Plans Wikipedia Training to Shape Israel-Palestinian Narrative
An anti-Zionist group is planning to hold a Wikipedia training event in Toronto, Canada.
The post promoting the event invited people to “Join us to populate Wikipedia entries honouring martyred Palestinian artists and exposing the Canadian, Zionist backers of genocide.”
“The evening will begin with Palestinian short films, followed by a Wikipedia 101 session and hands-on editing,” the organizers promised.
They explained that the purpose of the presentation is to teach others how to shape the narrative on the Israeli-Arab conflict on Wikipedia.

“Against attempts to erase Palestinian martyrs and conceal the Imperialist perpetrators of Israel’s genocide, this Wiki Edit-a-Thon remedies the narrative, towards Palestinian liberation,” the organizers said.
It’s against Wikipedia’s policy to promote propaganda on its platform. Wikipedia does not allow promotional articles and has a rule that all content must be presented in a neutral manner.
Nonetheless, Wikipedia has come under fire in the past for biased editing. Ashley Rindsberg, founder of NPOV Media, has conducted extensive studies alleging that a small group of editors have hijacked the Israeli-Arab narrative on Wikipedia.
“In a matter of years since October 7, a handful of Wikipedia editors captured the entire Palestine-Israel Articles topic area,” he posted on X, alongside a link to his media company’s report on the topic.
“NPOV has published a series of reports on the six leaders of this group, revealing the tactics they used to undermine knowledge infrastructure on the most important geopolitical subject today,” he explained.
