A utility pole was snapped off and electrical wires were brought down after a vehicle crashed into the pole at the intersection of North Main Street and Ash Street this afternoon.

The impact caused the bottom portion of the utility pole to break off, leaving the upper section hanging from overhead wires, with several wires dropping toward the roadway.

The Monroe Fire Department, Monroe Police, New York State Police, Monroe EMS, and Kiryas Joel Hatzolah responded to the scene to assist with the incident and secure the area.

North Main Street remains closed between Forest Avenue and Charlton Place as crews await repairs to the damaged pole and downed wires by Orange and Rockland. Residents in the surrounding area should be prepared for possible power outages as repair work continues.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, and no information regarding possible injuries was immediately reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
