Israel Arrests Foreign Activist in Hebron Hills Who Depicted Netanyahu In Gun Crosshairs
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Israeli police have arrested a foreign activist following a confrontation near Mitzpe Yair in the southern Hebron Hills, alleging that she has ties to a group designated by Israel as a terrorist organization and previously published an image depicting a crosshair aimed at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the Israel Police, officers from the Hebron station in the Judea District were dispatched to the scene several days ago after receiving a report of a confrontation. An investigation identified one of the people involved as an anti-Israel activist and one of the founders of the student organization MAC, which police said promotes activity against Israel in response to the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack.
Police also alleged that the woman supports Addameer, a Palestinian prisoner-rights organization that Israel designated as a terrorist organization in 2021.
Following intelligence work by the foreign nationals desk at the Judea and Samaria District’s central investigative unit, officers examined the woman’s social media activity. Police said they identified an image taken abroad in which she wore a shirt featuring Netanyahu’s picture alongside a symbol resembling a sniper’s crosshair directed at his head and body.
The suspect was arrested Tuesday evening and questioned at a police station. During questioning, she allegedly accused Israel of genocide and said she had come to Israel to undertake an internship connected to Addameer, with the stated aim of providing legal assistance to Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli detention facilities.
At the conclusion of the questioning, she was placed in custody. On Wednesday morning, she was brought before the Population and Immigration Authority for a hearing to consider her deportation and a possible ban on future entry into Israel.
The police statement did not identify the woman by name or provide her nationality. The allegations have not been tested in court, and the statement did not include a response from the suspect or her legal representatives.
Police said that the case forms part of a broader effort to prevent foreign activists from traveling to flashpoints in Judea and Samaria to take part in confrontations or disturbances. According to the statement, Israeli authorities have prevented 160 foreign activists from entering the country since the beginning of 2026 and deported more than 60 others.
Judea and Samaria District Commander Moshe Pinchi said police would continue working to prevent what he described as attempts by foreign anti-Israel activists to undermine Israel’s international standing. He called the image targeting Netanyahu an especially serious matter, arguing that it went beyond political opposition and crossed a line into incitement against a sitting prime minister.
