Gas prices across New Jersey, including the Lakewood area, remain elevated despite showing signs of stability in recent days, according to AAA.

As of Monday, the statewide average for regular gasoline stood at $4.31 per gallon, nearly unchanged from the previous week but approximately $1.30 higher than the same time last year.

Motorists purchasing midgrade gasoline are paying an average of $4.88 per gallon, while premium averages $5.18 and diesel stands at $6.32 per gallon.

Although regular gas prices have dropped slightly from last month’s average of $4.41, AAA says the continued high costs are putting financial pressure on drivers.

According to AAA Northeast, surveys indicate that approximately 60% of drivers experience financial strain when gasoline prices reach $4 per gallon, prompting many to reduce driving, combine errands, and cut back on other expenses.
