HISTORY MADE! Arab Nation Joins Global Fight Against Antisemitism for First Time
For the first time in history, the United Arab Emirates has joined an international forum on antisemitism.
The UAE’s foreign minister’s envoy for countering extremism and terrorism, Maqsoud Kruse, joined the 15th Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism (SECCA) Forum, which is meeting in Dublin, Ireland, this week. Organized by the World Jewish Congress in coordination with the European Commission, the forum brings together Jewish community leaders from across the world with government envoys from 28 countries, representatives from at least seven international organizations, and executives from technology companies such as Meta.

“This meeting in Dublin is a much-needed opportunity to reset the conversation between Jewish organizations, governments, and technology companies, including about how to counter online hate,” the WJC said.
Micheál Martin, Ireland’s Taoiseach (prime minister), met with leaders from the WJC, Jewish communities, and Jewish organizations.
“At a time when many Irish Jews feel increasingly isolated and insecure, this forum offers a valuable opportunity for honest and constructive engagement with the Irish Government,” Maurice Cohen, the president of the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland, said.

According to U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun, Armenia and several other countries are expected to join the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).
Sara Friedman, executive director of the WJC, urged world leaders to acknowledge their failures in addressing the scourge of antisemitism that has plagued Jewish communities across the globe since the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
“The responsibility for protecting Jewish life cannot rest on Jewish communities alone,” she said. “It requires governments, international institutions, and technology companies to move beyond statements of solidarity and take meaningful action.”
