Trump Advisers Fear Guilfoyle May Reveal Family Secrets After Resignation as Ambassador

Oct 14, 2026·3 min read

WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews) — Advisers to President Donald Trump worked behind the scenes to protect Kimberly Guilfoyle’s job as U.S. ambassador to Greece before she was asked to resign this week amid allegations of improper conduct, according to sources who spoke to the Daily Mail.

Those sources said some close to the president feared that removing the longtime Trump ally could lead her to disclose personal and political details about the first family. They described Guilfoyle as having maintained a private journal or “burn book” documenting conversations and relationships from her years inside the Trump circle, which some have nicknamed “The Devil Wears MAGA.”

Guilfoyle, 57, a former Fox News co-host and onetime fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., was confirmed as ambassador in 2025 after the couple’s engagement ended in 2024. She served roughly 11 months in Athens. The White House confirmed Tuesday that she had been asked to resign following reports of an Office of Inspector General inquiry into her tenure.

In a lengthy statement posted on X, Guilfoyle denied the allegations and said she would “vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity.” She called the ambassadorship “the honor of a lifetime,” thanked Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and reaffirmed her support for the America First agenda. She highlighted work on energy agreements and defense cooperation with Greece, a NATO ally.

“While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end,” she wrote.

The Daily Mail reported that some Trump allies viewed the Greece post in part as a way to distance Guilfoyle after her relationship with Trump Jr. ended. Trump Jr. later married Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson. One source told the outlet that Guilfoyle “knows where the bodies are buried” regarding family and political matters and that “nobody wants an angry Kimberly back home with nothing to lose.”

Allegations under review, according to multiple reports including the Wall Street Journal and Daily Mail, have included claims involving private aircraft, gifts, relationships with a Greek energy and construction firm, and a request to a donor to cover a large credit-card bill before her confirmation. Guilfoyle’s attorneys have rejected wrongdoing, saying any payments sought related to prior speaking engagements and that she followed State Department rules on travel. She has called the accusations false.

Trump told reporters this week that he “didn’t like what I read” about the matter and confirmed she would not remain in the post. White House press secretary Katie Zacharia said Guilfoyle had been “a wonderful asset to the team” and wished her well.

Guilfoyle has not publicly addressed claims of any private journal. The Daily Mail’s reporting relies on unnamed sources familiar with internal discussions.
