MAKING ROOM FOR TORAH: Yeshiva Rabbonim Give Up Their Own Rooms to Accommodate Growing Number of Bochurim
The rabbonim of Yeshivas Knesses Yechezkel in Elad have taken the unusual step of vacating their own rooms to make space for bochurim after a significant increase in enrollment left the yeshiva struggling with overcrowded facilities at the beginning of the winter zeman.
The shortage of space developed as the yeshiva welcomed a growing number of talmidim while awaiting the arrival of additional buildings intended to accommodate its expanding student body. Unexpected delays in delivering the new structures have created serious difficulties in providing adequate living and learning accommodations.
Faced with the shortage, members of the yeshiva’s rabbinic staff relinquished their personal rooms so that the available space could be used by the bochurim.
The yeshiva administration is hopeful that the new buildings will arrive within the coming weeks, providing much-needed relief and allowing the talmidim to return to more comfortable living and learning arrangements.
In the meantime, the administration sought to express its appreciation to the bochurim for their patience and dedication to learning despite the difficult conditions.
Each bochur received an individually packaged pastry and a bottle of water, accompanied by a special letter of appreciation and encouragement from the rosh yeshiva, Rav Boruch Mordechai Ettinger.
Rav Ettinger personally signed the letter, praising the talmidim for their commitment to Torah learning despite the cramped conditions and the challenges they have encountered.
The rosh yeshiva emphasized the significance of their continued dedication to learning under difficult circumstances, expressing admiration for the perseverance they have demonstrated during the opening weeks of the winter zeman.
He also expressed hope that the housing shortage would soon be resolved and that the temporary logistical difficulties would not interfere with the continuity or quality of Torah learning in the yeshiva.
